The Saint John String Quartet pulls out all the stops to close out our Virtuoso Series, collaborating with Symphony NB principal bass player Andrew Reed Miller for an electrifying program called AMPED! This concert features the premiere of a new piece for string quintet by Miller titled Confessions, as well as two other contemporary pieces that include electronic media with string quartet.

“The title [of Confessions…] refers to 'Confessions of a Shinegawa Monkey', a surreal noir short story by Haruki Murakami, which is a favourite of mine. In the story a talking monkey, who is ostracized by his simian community and who has a love of Bruckner's symphonies, is educated by a physics professor in Tokyo. Like many of my pieces, Confessions is rather episodic, shifting from one idea to the next.”
