Fine Arts students will be launching two books on Friday, December 6th, at 1pm in the BMH Rotunda.
Both publications are the result of student-centred collaborative research class projects and are published by Xeno-Optic Press.
Glenn Priestley: Paintings and Drawings
Glenn Priestley: Paintings and Drawings, features an interview between St Thomas students of the FNAR 2173 Watercolour Painting class and internationally exhibited artist Glenn Priestley. The text also includes an essay by arts writer and professor emeritus, Virgil Hammock; the artist鈥檚 observations on his own work; a comprehensive artist鈥檚 CV as well as a selection of paintings and drawings from the last 25 years of Glenn Priestley鈥檚 career. The book was developed as a collaborative research project conducted by STU students under the direction of Prof. William Forrestall. Special thanks to the New Brunswick's Experiential Learning Initiative program, as well as Dr. Mike A. Fleming and Jessica Hughes of the Experiential Learning Office of 丁香成人社区. Sanctuary: Seek-Keep-Care: The Art of Ann Manuel
Sanctuary: Seek-Keep-Care: The Art of Ann Manuel includes an in-depth interview between the artist Ann Manuel and the 丁香成人社区 students of the FNAR 1333 Drawing class, a critical essay by the curator Christiana Myers, and a foreword by noted artist Amy Ash. The book features a series of selected images covering the recent work of the artist as a 鈥渕indful act of looking and listening to the world around and within us.鈥 The text was developed as a collaborative research project with STU students under the direction of Prof. William Forrestall. Ann Manuel鈥檚 work has been exhibited internationally and is currently featured in two separate exhibitions at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery.
